Coffee Machine Water-Tank Access: Measure This Before You Buy

As an Amazon Associate, BuyRight Notes earns from qualifying purchases. We pick products from published specs and our own notes, not paid placements.

The measurement that matters is the refill path: where the water tank comes out, and whether you can reach it, lift it and put it back without moving the machine. The full planner, with all five measurements, is in the Home espresso setup guide; the short version is here.

Find the tank first

A machine can fit on paper and still be a chore every morning if you cannot refill it without dragging it out. Tanks fill three ways, and each needs a different kind of room:

Body dimensions tell you whether the machine fits; the refill path tells you whether the station works. Confirm the exact model number and read its current dimensions before ordering; same-brand machines differ by generation.

Already have a machine in mind? The guide's machine lookup shows how its tank comes out, by brand and model. Not sure yet? The size finder asks three questions and points at one.

Three compact machines, sorted by the tank

Rear lift-out: Breville Bambino, 54 mm. The small-kitchen pick for cafe-style milk drinks. 12 in tall and 13.7 in deep; the 47 oz tank lifts out at the back, so leave a gap behind it or plan to reach over. The catch: no built-in grinder, and its accessories are Breville 54 mm, not the common 58 mm. Our note

Removable rear tank: CASABREWS CM5418, 51 mm. The starter machine for steam-wand milk drinks. 5.5 in wide and 12.3 in deep, with a 34 oz tank that lifts out at the back; check the depth against your counter. The catch: 51 mm is the odd accessory size, so search tampers and baskets by the model name, never "universal". Our note

Side tank, for a low cabinet: Nespresso Vertuo Pop+. Pod coffee with crema and nothing to measure. 10.4 in tall, per the listing, so it clears a 15-inch cabinet, with the 25 oz tank on the side, so nothing needs to open at the back; leave that side open. The catch: Vertuo pods only; no ground coffee, no grinder, none of the control of a manual machine. Our note
